About Four Otter Craft Studio

Welcome to our textile teaching studio nestled in the heart of Blue House Yard, Wood Green. We're all about the art of crafting, offering a variety of classes and courses that span the wonderful world of knitting, crochet, spinning, and dyeing.

At our core, we believe in learning through doing, celebrating both ancient textile skills and creative experimentation. Our classes are structured, supportive, and taught by experienced tutors — because we’re a textile school, not just a one-off craft experience.

A Creative Studio for Curious Makers

We’re firm believers in the strength of community, and that’s why we host our weekly crafting gathering, the Friday Fibre Feast. We also meet monthly for Yarn & Conversation, a relaxed space for shared making and textile talk.

Beyond the studio, we’re proud to be part of London’s vibrant creative scene — from participating in events like Muswell Hill Creatives Make & Mend Festival, Haringey Feast, and Circular Economy Week, to hosting our very own seasonal Craft Market right here at Blue House Yard.

Community is the Thread That Connects Us

I'm Sofia. My love for textile fibres was ignited at a young age, growing up surrounded by crafting women who were committed to preserving old knowledge.

In 2018, I moved from Sweden to England and decided to leave my career as a teacher to focus full-time on knitting and spinning. Opening this studio is a dream come true — a chance to pass on my experience and create a space where people connect and learn together.

I’m especially passionate about helping people discover their creative potential and explore the expressive joy of yarn.

Meet the Makers

I'm Nessa and my lifelong journey in the world of textiles has been driven by a deep love for craft and a passion for teaching.

For the past 15 years, I’ve dedicated myself to mastering knitting, crochet, and textile design — and to sharing that knowledge with others. I hold both a BA in Textiles and an MA in Textile Design, and teaching has always been at the heart of what I do.

Outside of the studio, I’m supported and inspired by my family: my husband, two grown-up children, and my young grandson, whom I’m proud to be raising as a Special Guardian. He brings boundless energy and joy into our lives — and more than a little creative inspiration.

Sofia Otterbeck

Nessa Hubbard

The name Four Otter Craft Studio is a blend of both of our stories:

  • Sofia Otterbeck has four people in her family

  • Nessa Hubbard-Fouracre shares her heritage with Devon, a place known for its wild otters

It’s playful and personal — just like the studio itself.

What’s With the Otters?

Located right by the tube in Wood Green’s Blue House Yard, our studio is easy to reach from across London. It’s filled with light, yarn, and the quiet buzz of creativity.

We’ve designed the space to be welcoming and accessible, with plenty of room to gather, make, and learn — whether you’re just starting out or coming back to making after time away.
