Meet Our Teachers

At Four Otter Craft Studio, we believe in clear teaching, real skills, and meeting every maker where they are.

We’re Sofia and Nessa — two passionate textile educators who bring together a rich blend of experience, knowledge, and care for yarn craft

Sofia Otterbeck

Co-Founder · Knitting, Spinning & Heritage Textile Techniques

Sofia is a skilled knitter and spinner with a deep, heritage-based understanding of textiles.

Originally from Sweden, she grew up surrounded by traditional crafts and a culture that values making things well, learning proper techniques, and understanding materials from the ground up.

She specialises in:

  • Spinning: fibre behaviour, drafting, plying, wheel mechanics, and creating consistent yarn

  • Knitting techniques and structural understanding

  • Heritage textile knowledge and traditional approaches

  • Technical problem-solving and refining advanced skills

Sofia brings depth, precision, and a strong technical foundation to the studio. Her teaching helps students understand how techniques work so they can develop their skills with clarity.

Nessa Hubbard

Co-Founder · Foundations, Beginner Skills & Accessible Teaching

Nessa is the calm, steady guide who helps students begin their journey with ease.

She has a gift for breaking things down simply, explaining concepts in practical steps, and creating a welcoming space for people who are new to yarn craft.

She specialises in:

  • Beginner knitting and crochet

  • Foundational skills and first steps

  • Explaining ideas in clear, manageable ways

  • Supporting learners as they develop new skills

  • All digital and tech systems for Four Otter

Students describe Nessa as warm, clear, and encouraging — the teacher who helps things finally “make sense.”
